Medical Hands for Healing is a Scottsdale, Arizona based group of physicians, nurses, technicians, translators, and support staff. Our current Co-Medical Directors are Vincent Russo MD, orthopedic surgeon and James Bertz MD, plastic/reconstructive surgeon; both of Scottsdale Arizona.

We have come together to share our skill and talent by providing services to individuals in underprivileged areas of the world. In addition to patient care, we spend time with local physicians and nurses sharing our knowledge of modern procedures in health and medicine. We have visited the countries of Nicaragua, Ecuador, and El Salvador. Our services are based on the specific needs of each of the communities that we visit. Past services have included internal medicine, gynecologic and pediatric clinics; endoscopic procedures and the surgical specialties of orthopedics, gynecology, pediatrics, general and plastics/reconstructive surgery (e.g. cleft lip and palate, facial reconstruction, congenital abnormality correction.)

Past teams have consisted of anywhere from 18 to 50 volunteers. Each individual is responsible for their own airfare. We depend on donations of equipment and supplies from various vendors and organizations both, locally and nationally. Monetary contributions are used to purchase equipment, supplies and medications that we are unable to obtain through donation. As a group, we look forward to continuing to provide our services to those areas of the world where resources and access to medical treatment are limited.
